Assistant Set Designer/Hotel Priscilla Elevator Designer/Supertitle Designer: Jessica Palagano

I had a lot of fun working on this show. I was able to design my first Main-stage set piece for this show: The Hotel Priscilla Elevator. I used AutoCAD to design the elevator. The elevator is created to look like a birdcage, as described in the script, and I added a "P" on the front to represent the first letter of the Priscilla Hotel. It was painted gold to match the rest of the set pieces in the show and the overall look of the art deco era. The doors open downstage to allow easy access for the actors.

I designed the supertitles for the show. I used Photoshop to create each of the 50+ supertitles. Through this experience, I became more familiar with Photoshop. One of the difficulties was keeping the design around the words far enough away from the words so that it did not look crushed but also not spread out far enough that they were cut off by the projector parameters. I also learned how to create a supertitle cue sheet for the stage manager.
